Holiday Readers

Kia Ora,

Coming home in your child's book bag tonight will be a clear plastic zip lock bag with a number of readers and a list of words. These words are ordered in colours according to the colour levels we use in school. They start from Red and move through to Yellow, Blue and Green. Please help your child to learn these words at there own pace. Also the readers are a varying mix of levels...ranging from the level your child is currently at to 2 or 3 levels above. Please support your child in reading these or alternatively you can read them to your child. The idea is to expose them to the new vocabulary that is introduced as the readers get harder.

Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing the progress after the term break.

Kids Can Fundraiser

Hi parents,

You may already know, but if not, this Friday the 5th of September is the nationwide Lunchbox Day. Lunchbox day is a fundraiser event for Kids Can New Zealand, and is supported by Campbell Live. Arahoe School is taking part in Lunchbox day by asking families to donate a tin can of baked beans or spaghetti (of any brand) on Friday morning.

All the tin cans donated will be made into a tin can sculpture before being collected by Kids Can. A photo of our sculpture will be sent into Campbell Live and will hopefully appear on the show this Friday! If you would like to take part please bring a tin can donation to the front of room 23 by 9am Friday.

Thanks, Arahoe Primary School

Wheels on Wednesday

Just a reminder about Wheels on Wednesday. This is a special day held every Wednesday where children can bring wheels (scooters, bikes, roller blades etc) to school. At lunchtime the seniors set up a special course and the children who bring wheels have an absolutely fantastic time! So please talk to your child about this and see if they would like to participate in Wheels on Wednesday.

This week the achievement certificate goes to Lorin for being a role model by using his thinking skills when answering questions on the mat.  Congratulations and well done Lorin!
